Bringing Bicycles and Bodies Together Comfortably

Each of us is unique and has different physical constraints. Your body and your bicycle should fit each other perfectly, and it makes a lot more sense to adjust the bicycle to the body than the body to the bicycle.

A professional fitting will align your bicycle to your body, which will help you be comfortable and efficient while riding.

We use a strategy of learning to address your individual needs, which will make you more comfortable on your bike. We will work with you to understand your goals of riding, physical limitations, injuries, strength, flexibility, and range of motion, to create an ideal position that brings health, not pain, to the body.

Through a process of education about position, form, alignment and balance, We will help you begin a new understanding of your relationship with your bike.

Who We Are

Michael Sylvester - owner, founder

Michael Sylvester

Owner, Founder, Master Fitter

Michael has been doing bike fitting since the early 1980’s and has developed his craft over 44 years of fitting bikes to people. He started when there was nothing but crude bicycle fitting tools and paint-by-numbers systems that used body measurement averages. He quickly learned the limitations of such tools and began developing his own methods based on experience with the current tools, his own biomechanics studies, and learning from new studies and emerging knowledge in the fitting profession.

Michael went on to teach fitting seminars around the country and also developed fitting programs with Serotta, Trek, and Raleigh bicycle companies that taught their dealerships on how to create their own fitting departments.

After racing for 20+ years Michael still has an addiction for riding and continues to ride about 5000 miles per year using his bike for transportation, training, and he continues to learn about the interface between the body and the bike.

Brian Howard Brian Howard

Apprentice Fitter and Future Owner

Brian has been passionately learning how to fit bikes to bodies using Michael’s process for over a year, taking in as much bike fitting related knowledge as he can find. In addition he has been learning anatomy, biomechanics and yoga. He has been fascinated by bicycles and the melding of human and machine since he was old enough to ride a bike.  Brian started working in bike shops in the mid ‘80s at the age of 18. At that time he started racing locally, competing on both the road and velodrome into his 20’s. Brian has worked in the bicycling industry for over 8 years as a mechanic, a manager, a sales person and also has experience in manufacturing high-end bicycle components. In other words, “all-things-bicycle” has been a passion for Brian for almost his entire life. Over the years Brian has enjoyed participating in organized group rides such as Reach the Beach, Seattle to Portland, and others. He continues to ride his bike almost daily for transportation, fitness, and fun.

Brian and Michael are working toward him taking over Bicycle Fitting Services in the fall of 2026 when Michael retires.
